India Offbeat: All-woman’s police station in Vedaranyam

An all-women police station in Vedaranyam town

Every once in a while, the India of contrasts reveals itself. Driving through Vedaranyam on a muggy afternoon in August 2013, we saw this structure. Not sure if the pinkish brick facade was intentional. On this dozey afternoon, it appeared that there was no one at all in the police station. Not sure if Vedaranyam is the most peaceful town in Tamil Nadu, or if this was just an off-day.
